Reiki Attunement

Before you look at Reiki attunement you must understand the basics of Reiki. Originating from Japan, Reiki is a “relaxation method for activating the self-healing”, which uses the supply of healing life energy, to be triggered by the laying on of hands. The term “Reiki” is pronounced (Ray-kee) and comes from the two Japanese characters “Rei” and “Ki”.

“Ki” means life force, an inherent energy in every living being – where “Rei” is synonymous with universal, all-inclusive and unlimited. The composite mean ing of the two syllables “universal life energy” or “Healing Power of the Universe”. The technique was discovered at the beginning of the 20th Century by the Buddhist Mikao Usui (1865 to 1926).

Reiki is one of the best known and most common methods of healing by Hands. During a Reiki session, the therapist builds a channel by the laying on of hands between the patient and the “universal energy”. This energy (Reiki) flows into the body to release blockages and strengthen the self-healing and lead to a deep level of relaxation. Reiki on physical level, relieves pain, improves circulation & detoxifies, on an emotional level, it isrelaxing, calming and reduces stress.

However, in addition to actual manual therapy there is distance healing, a common method of energy work. For even by Mikao Usui, it was reported that he had resided in the initiations of his students always in another room.

Reiki attunement is the method for receiving the ‘life energy’ and moving through the 3 degrees of Reiki. The ability to learn Reiki is independent of the intellectual capacity of individuals and has nothing to do with whether someone is able to meditate. It does not require years of practice. Reiki is simply passed on from the teacher to the students by Reiki attunement.
