What Exactly is Reiki?
Reiki is a style of holistic therapy that uses the idea of universal energy flow with the conglomeration of seven chakras. The human body contains seven energy centres, these are the chakras. Reiki practitioners believe that there is a focal point in the human body and it is the channelling of universal life energy, known as Ki, through these points that defines the Reiki therapies.

Maikao Usui The The Father Of Moden Reiki
From Where Does Reiki Derive?
The techniques and practices of Reiki healing have been around and understood for hundreds of years but the true modern Japanese Master of Reiki is Mikao Usui who, aaround 1890, redefined Reiki by incorporating the basic techniques and symbols into the Reiki we know today. Master Maiko Usui found attunement (awakening) on a mountain meditation. This attunement is the process by which Reiki practitioners progress through the three levels of learning and enlightenment.
The Key principles of Reiki
The main purpose of Reiki is to enable healing at the emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki also enables physical healing. Not as an instant ‘magical’ cure but as a steady progression of improvement. As a non-intrusive healing therapy it is completely compatible with modern medicine and often used in conjunction with other mainstream healing and not as an alternative. Reiki enables practitioners to focus the flow of the universal life energy.
The universal Life Energy Ki
Reiki practitioners believe that “Ki” flows throughout the whole universe, and the practice of Reiki connects that energy through the human body. The concept of the universal energy Ki (or Chi) is a well accepted idea in many other healing arts, marshal arts and even religions.
The Art Of Healing
The art of self-healing can be practiced by Reiki practitioners by placing their hand in specified position. This increases the energy in their own bodies. The healing of others is done by the placing of hands on the person receiving the healing treatment. It is also possible to heal animals using Reiki
AS well as one to one, Reiki healing can be performed by a group of healers, all placing hands on the subject. Another form of healing known as ‘distance healing’ can also be performed whereby the use of visualisation and symbology enables the Reiki healer to channel energies through subjects that can be in another location or even another country
